Self Care Act💛

I’m not going to pretend body changes aren’t hard. Everything about them. The work, the consistency, and the mental strength that go into it. Now reversing the other way is a challenge that is especially hard. I am committed to use this experience as an opportunity to become the strongest, both physically and mentally, I am yet.
So with that being said, I am committed to practicing lots of self care.
Today I tried something new. Instead of going through my closet each day ripping off cloths that I looked “better” in a month ago, I went out and got a couple of things that I feel AMAZING in.
No, this is not an excuse to buy new cloths. This was something I have done for myself that has truly made me happy in my skin and that is what self care is all about.

Balance.
Something I’m learning more and more everyday. I used to get upset when Miles would bring “junk” into the apartment because it would tempt me and sometimes “sabotage” my diet. I found completely restricting and swearing off treats would just lead to binging, negative self talk, and extreme stress surrounding food.
Now I welcome treats. I have found balance and I am happy.
So no, my bowl of oats is not “ruined” because of this Reese’s. This is balance. This is true health.

Nighttime sweet cravings hittin you?
I find there is nothing better than ending my day with a cup of warm, cakey oatmeal.
“But carbs are bad at night right?”
NOOOOOOOO
Calories in vs calories out. That is what it will always be, because that is how our bodies operate.
So if you find that you have intense sweet cravings at night, save some macros/extra calories (or don’t if your trying to build a bubble butt like myself 🍑) and finish your night off with this treat. Try adding cinnamon as studies show cinnamon curbs blood sugar (cravings) by lowering insulin resistance. I also add egg whites for extra protein and for the cakey texture 😋
Top with PB and sugar free maple syrup and it’s a dream💛
So cut out the cravings and the night snacking with this deliciousness⛄️

3 weeks pre comp vs 3 weeks post comp
❗️IMPORTANT👇🏻❗️
Social media is a slippery slop. You see thousands of fitness icons that perceive their lives to be on point surrounding their diet, exercise regime, and lifestyle habits. Then there are the ones I appreciate. The real ones. The ones that call out the so called “perfect” ones. Because let me tell you one thing. It is humanly impossible to gracefully and effortlessly maintain their “perfect” figure and lifestyle....cue natural instincts and implicit processes of the human body.
When I started competing, I made it a point not to compare my prep to “their prep.” Sure, every now and again I did and would worry. But I have a strong team and support system that put me in my place again 😉
I was warned by every competitor and their mother that post show was by far the hardest part of the sport. It is. Body dysmorphia, uncontrollable appetite, hormone imbalance, you name it. So when I was (am) experiencing all these things, seeing these pro competitors post all good things about their reverse dieting and still stage lean figure was discouraging. I even worried I wasn’t cut out of this.
Truth is, I am and the problem was where I was looking and what I was seeing.
I can’t emphasize the importance of having a good support system enough, especially as a new competitor like myself. 
The first thing my team did was reassure and and emphasized the importance of mental health🙌🏻 As my coach says, “it’s all a learning process.” Now I know I can’t do an aggressive reverse AND THATS OKAY. Now I am more aggressively INCREASING my calories and learning to absolutely love the strength and curves that come with it. It won’t happen overnight but I know in my heart I will get there.
Point is, comparing yourself to social media can only hurt you. This is why I am doing this post. I believe if you “advertise” or post about a sport, lifestyle, etc, being honest is most important thing you can do for your audience. As much as I have fallen in love with this sport and my team, this is also a reality. So I write this with a full belly of protein oatmeal saying, I got you and I will always be real with ya 😉
