Travel Tip: See some of the best views in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from its highest point - Clingmans Dome. You can see up to 100 miles in every direction from its observation tower on a clear day!
What You Need to Know: - Bring a jacket - you can expect temperatures to be 10-20 degrees colder than the park’s lower elevations
- The trail to the top of the observation is 1 mile round trip & of moderate difficulty
- The path is paved but is not considered wheelchair accessible because of its steep incline
- The road to Clingmans Dome is closed December-March
(I like the cloud treetop supported by bell tower trunk to satisfy a rule of 3’s)
My brain has been with Rome a bit since I recently viewed about the days when those islands across the pond had lost the way to place peace as a high priority and, therefore, lay prey to a *2nd* invasion from Rome. - The first one having been unsuccessful because they were unified against potential oppressors; ready, therefore, to fend off those who’d make their home a host. -I press back against our similar contemporary plague of separatism, which so many more and more people have thankfully been seeing their way clear of, so this beautiful tale was a welcome reminder to help people learn from history. Additionally, it collected a brilliant group of great artists 2 tell the story, which weaves magic and lore, an appreciation of the many beauties and abilities of nature, and with the 3 human interpretations of power, all accompanied by faith and love to balance the darkness. These parts make it no shock that name is all over the project. Or that I heart many elements of it.
Back to whose vast and costume changes, and cyclical trends (opinions of the merits of AotA be what they may) have made her a kind of ramble through ‘Western’ For a part of my brain, she is therefore a favorite to visit. Especially since she manages to simultaneously be what I tend to call a ‘living city’ - doesn’t simply ride on its tourism, but whose citizens operate almost in spite of that element. (It may be obvious that growing up in NYC has given me an appreciation of that It is as youthful as it is aged. The people a vibrant reflection of this. Architecture’s variety lifting you from being weighed by any particular time period, while overall maintaining appreciation for visual beauty & candid about highs & lows of man. So fitting that today it is a part of alive and beautiful, to the point of magic, at any age.
May we each appreciate the beauties in others, & their cultures, at all times. Unified we are stronger.
