I bought new sweatpants today in size medium, and I’m so excited. I’m finally ready to say goodbye to all my extra large gym attire. Down 33 pounds from 230 to 197. Even though I cleverly disguised the anguish of carrying around so much extra weight, it truly was utterly depressing. It wasn’t who I use to be. I was active. I was a former competitive figure skater who trained with some of the best coaches in the World. I was always slender. I knew what to do, but somehow growing a business took over all of my energy chips. The constant focus, worrying about nonsense, trying too hard. I had nothing left for me. But recently, I had the courage to look inward and rearrange my life priorities in order to create a more balanced human existence. My only regret is not coming to this conclusion sooner. This also lead me to get a full blood work up which revealed that my Testosterone hormone levels were in the bottom 4% of all men. I now am on hormone replacement therapy and I feel 20 years younger. I share this with you in hopes that more men in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s will get tested occasionally for their Testosterone levels. Low-T causes insomnia, lack of focus, belly fat, slower metabolism, weight gain, chronic pain, a feeling of constant exhaustion, and irritability. Hope this helps others! For those following my weight loss journey and lifestyle change, 🙏 for the support and love and encouragement. I was putting up some trim in my office today and I found this note a wrote back in 2011. I believe I was writing a paper at like 3:00 in the morning. Seeing that reminded me of how hard it was to work full time and go to school full time at the same time! Man that was tough! The biggest thing that taught me was that you are gonna have to work your butt off if you really want to be something one day. Learning that was more important than any essay or math problem. That's what you go back to when you are digging deep trying to lead a crew through a 14-15 hour work day. You can't stop till the job is done. Students you can't stop till you walk across that stage. You have to really want it!
