My wife and I just got back from a trip to France. It was incredible. Paris is absolutely lovely. The City of Lights, Love, Pastries, Café, and Baguettes did not disappoint. But in a place with so many opportunities to indulge in carbs and sweets, how can you have fun without packing on the pounds? 
Well, just take a look at my steps from the city and see. We walked EVERYWHERE! That’s how you can enjoy your vacation the most. When you tour the city by feet, you burn so many calories. And when you get that much exercise, you can savor every sip of coffee and every bite of that baguette sandwich GUILT-FREE! Whatever vacation or holiday you go on, I encourage you to walk your way through it. Getting lean is fairly simple! It comes down to being in a calorie deficit day to day and overtime you will see the extra lbs fall off.
- 
When starting out try not to rush the progress. Before dieting you need to figure out your maintenance calories. No need to change the diet, just start tracking your daily calories and weight. 
Take the weekly average of your calories and weight. Depending on how your weight fluctuates, you know if you were eating in a surplus, deficit, or maintenance.
- 
To start dip into a calorie deficit. 500 calories below maintenance will set you up to lose roughly a pound a week. As you go you may need to drop the calories further if the weight stalls.
- 
I also recommend you shift your diet to be centered around protein and whole foods. This will help ensure that you maintain muscle mass and are more satiated when eating a lower calorie diet.
- 
Increasing daily expenditure is another way to add to the deficit. Increasing volume overtime, via reps, sets, days in the gym can be good, but you don't want to overdo it being in a deficit. Your strength will likely not increase much unless you’re new to lifting weights.
- 
Increasing non exercise activity (NEAT), such as walking more, doing chores, and making sure your not too sedentary. Step tracking is a great way to do this.
- 
Adding and increasing cardio overtime will also really help, but can vary between individuals depending on their preferences, and goals.
