The legacy and hard work of Filipino labor leader and co-founder of the UFW, Manong Larry Itliong, was inducted this week into Labor's International Hall of Fame. It is so great that he is getting the long-overdue recognition he so deserves. https://buff.ly/2KRuPTv *link in bio* #filipinxpride #isangbagsak #aapiheritage

Two months of writing here, and what even is the point?
The bones of The Subversive Supper has to do with our modern day homesteading journey and a commitment to an examined life. It has to do with the literal subversive choice of eating in a way that is nourishing as an act of radical self-care. The radical act of growing and producing our own food as a means to cut out the middleman of corporate capitalism, remove our support of GMOs and the rise of monocultures, and to create food security within our family and community.
But it is about so much more than that too. If those literal points of the blog are its bones, then I would see these other matters as its pulse..- it is about healing our relationship with food, nourishing the earth, our connections, our intellect, our creativity, our resilience - it is about feeding your soul.
That’s the way I see it. These are the bits of life that I carry dearest in my own heart. The values I find most important to nurture to pass on to my daughter.
Thank you for being here with your big, beautiful minds. Thank you for pulling up a chair for this subversive gathering of sorts. ….

20 freshman students from Darrow High School camped at our farm this week. They learned about the story of Soul Fire Farm, Afro-indigenous farming practices, the Mohican people who were forcibly displaced from the land Soul Fire Farm rests on, and reflected on how displacement may be a part of their own family history. They also weeded, planted, mulched, played with Chaga, made music, hiked, and enjoyed s’mores over a camp fire! #lifeonland #community #foodsovereignty #soulfirefarm #foodjustice #handsonland
