Starting do document my research on food and trying to make sense of it all. The purpose is so that I can make better decisions everyday. The first book in my stash from the @dunedinpubliclibrary is Sweet Poison (Why Sugar Makes Us Fat) by David Gillespie. Those pretty stickers are from @wish Unfortunately I have to fuzzy cut each item. An electronic cutting machine like Cricut or Brother would have done a marvelous job!

Wistfully dressed for spring weather only to find myself in a literal Forbidden Desert "Sun Beats Down" card. 😂 only way to avoid that is have enough water/hydration to prevent death!

Today's scorching heat brought me all the way to @happylemoncanada's newest store in Scarborough,  located at Midland & Finch! Got the avocado matcha latte which was an extremely creamy one- the liquid stays up in the straw quite well. Get this if you enjoy avocados- th matcha serves as an undertone and doesn't pop out too much-

Thanks happy lemon for letting me try this out!  They've released their rewards card which has a rainy day/snow day point multiplier-swipe to see it! glad someone is acknowledging the efforts we go through for drinks! Racking up the points will be a no brainer! 😂

I’d been looking forward to trying out the Cantonese cuisine @tigerforkdc for a while.  Here were our starters: Cheung Fun (shrimp, flowering chives) and Humble Plate of Chili Wontons (turkey, shrimp, ginger). I especially enjoyed the Cheung Fun.  Anything on a Chinese menu that includes the word “fun” is usually enjoyable to me. 😊

It was interesting coming here because it reminded me of a complaint that I hear from many of my friends regarding Chinese food (even food in China). They often complain that the food is too oily.  First of all, let me first say, that grease doesn’t really bother me.  I don’t indulge in fried foods or foods drenched in oil every day.  If something is greasy but delicious, I will thoroughly enjoy it.  Also, there are those few places that have totally mastered the art of frying with minimal greasiness but I don’t expect all fried foods to meet this standard.  If I ordered something fried, I know I’m indulging in something potentially greasy and quite unhealthy, and I’m totally okay with that.  I seem to feel that if all I can take away from a dish is that it was greasy, then the overall dish was probably not very good at all.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this little debate and if you’ve heard similar remarks.

A little tip regarding reservations:  If you try to make reservations ahead of time, I found it quite challenging to find a table for two within 2 weeks of the reservation, so I’d make a reservation way in advance if possible.  I did find that when I was there that there were a lot of tables available so perhaps they leave more tables open for walk-ins?  Not quite sure but just FYI.

• Baked Yam 🍠 fries — Honestly, she’s gotten so much better at eating these. She can hold onto them so much better now and suck out the yam meat if it’s too crispy outside. She ate most of these!!

• Roasted Chicken — this was just roasted chicken with thyme, lemon, butter, salt and pepper on the outside. But I picked the parts of the breast where there wasn’t any direct seasoning and gave her just small strips to try again. We haven’t really served her too many variety of meats, mainly veggies and fruits but will probably let her try fish very very soon. .

There are 5 important affirmations that we focus on. I think they are great reminders and helps keep me balanced.

1. Keep it Simple
The program teaches a lot in a small amount of time. So the best way to learn and integrate all the information is to keep your meals simple. This makes shopping, cooking and balancing macros a lot easier.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. 5 "Meals" a day
In order to keep my blood sugar balanced through out the day, I now eat 5 "meals" a day....3 meals and 2 snacks. This makes sure my blood sugar doesn’t drop, I’m not starving or irritable & don’t stuff my face at my next meal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Eat until you are 80% full
This focuses on conscious eating. I realized that if I eat past this point, I feel heavy and stuffed. I admit finding 80% is difficult because my habit is to eat past it.

4. Eat if you are Hungry
This program is all about balance and figuring out what works for me. It's not about restrictions and starving myself.....so if you are hungry eat.

Every day the group shares their macros with everyone. That way we are held accountable, we can share questions and struggles, and the coach can keep tabs on us.

There are 5 important affirmations that we focus on. I think they are great reminders and helps keep me balanced. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Keep it Simple The program teaches a lot in a small amount of time. So the best way to learn and integrate all the information is to keep your meals simple. This makes shopping, cooking and balancing macros a lot easier. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. 5 "Meals" a day In order to keep my blood sugar balanced through out the day, I now eat 5 "meals" a day....3 meals and 2 snacks. This makes sure my blood sugar doesn’t drop, I’m not starving or irritable & don’t stuff my face at my next meal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Eat until you are 80% full This focuses on conscious eating. I realized that if I eat past this point, I feel heavy and stuffed. I admit finding 80% is difficult because my habit is to eat past it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Eat if you are Hungry This program is all about balance and figuring out what works for me. It's not about restrictions and starving myself.....so if you are hungry eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5. Accountability Every day the group shares their macros with everyone.
