Total Weight lost in 30 days: 5lbs

Total inches lost: 8! "About 3.5 years ago I was in the high end of the overweight BMI category and decided to lose weight, I lost about 3 stone which I have mostly kept off but at the beginning of this programme I was a couple of kilos outside of my ‘buffer zone’. About 2.5 years ago Sarah Hargreaves persuaded me to join target5k and I discovered a love of running which actually made me put on a bit of weight but I was in the best shape of my life. 
Fast forward to this February, I completed my first half marathon in a decent time but a combination of the horrid weather, a back injury and the hard slog of training over winter meant I lost my running mojo. I was starting to feel flabby and lethargic and to be honest a bit miserable. For me the saying ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ really does apply.

With the kids home for the summer and a husband who was going to be on the road a lot with work I knew I would struggle to get out for runs so I decided to join the workoff for the actual workouts themselves. I needed to give myself the proverbial kick up the a**e and get moving again. 
The steps, the water, the workouts, no problem. I honestly struggled with the logging everything on my fitness pal, I have been out with the kids most days eating ‘on the run’ but I have made much healthier choices and have been so much more aware of what I am choosing to put into my body to fuel it with. So water instead of pop, baked potato not burger and chips.

More importantly than any of that though, I have rediscovered a love of exercise, I’ve been for a few runs and I am enjoying eating healthy food and have broken the cycle of starving half the day then snacking on chocolate and crap that I’d got into. 
I enjoyed the programme and the camaraderie that developed enough that I will repeat the programme later in the year when I can devote myself to it wholeheartedly.

I'm sure you've seen quite a few of my collages, showing the difference between what i looked like when I was heavy and how I look now. I've answered questions people have had about my loose skin, but have never had the courage to post pics - until now.

I have some loose skin, most prominently on my arms, my stomach, my hips, and my thighs. It was hard to get a good pic of the little bit of loose skin on my arms, so I'm showing you the other areas where it's more easily seen.

Do I like it? HELL NO!

Should I love it? HELL YES!

It's the only skin I have, and spending my time hating it does me no good. So while I still may be self-conscious of my loose skin, I've made peace with it, and appreciate that it expanded when I needed it to, and has shrunk a lot more than I expected it to. Especially since this is the third time it's had to do so, and I was 49 when I lost weight last year for the very last time.

And let's get real: having some loose skin is a very small price to pay after losing 77 lbs, dropping 8 sizes, and 34% body fat. I'd rather be smaller, healthier, and fitter and have some loose skin than be heavy, unhealthy, and miserable again. And guess what? It doesn't even show when I'm wearing most clothes!

So if you're worried about loose skin after losing weight, STOP. It's going to happen if you've got a lot of weight to lose and/or your skin doesn't have great elasticity, and there's not much you can do about it. Yes, you can have skin tightening surgery like I did in 2005 on my stomach after I lost weight for the second time, but please don't fall prey to crazy promises from torture device gimmicks and/or MLM skin creams. They're just as bad as the magic weight loss products that people sell that don't work!

As you can see on the graphic there are typically four stages. The majority of us will start at above 20% body fat. To be lean and healthy you will need to be in the range of 6-15% body fat.

Depending on your genetics and your current lifestyle, transitioning between the different stages may be easier ๐Ÿ˜Š or very hard ๐Ÿ˜….

However, the most important thing is it is POSSIBLE. The only thing holding you back is YOU. Once you start holding yourself accountable, you will be able to control your life.

I know that the majority of you want a quick and easy solution. The truth is that, yes, you can change your body in the short term, however, you won’t be able maintain the results.

It’s all about forming the right system. You build a sustainable system by creating habits that allow you to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Examples: going to the gym 3x per week, cooking your own food 10x per week, averaging 10k steps per day, etc…
