“Brands are in the business of generating meaning.” Think on this for a moment. It's not about the logo, not about the catchy commercial. Not about who you know or who knows you. Certainly, a successful brand utilizes logo design, advertising, and a network of connections. Yes.
But at its core, a brand MEANS something.
The logo design REFLECTS that meaning.
The commercial COMMUNICATES that meaning.
The network FACILITATES that meaning.
And most importantly, consumers RECEIVE that meaning and RESPOND. This creates a positive feedback loop. (I should note that this loop is happening all the time, anyway, regardless of whether brands or consumers are aware of it. Intention is key.) Brand strategy is about skillfully controlling the message, while at the same time presenting that message so effortlessly, a consumer has difficulty making a case against it. Your brand has all the marks of an obvious choice.
That's how you get a consumer in the door, anyway.
The way you KEEP them there is to show them how YOUR brand makes THEM amazing.
