❝I don’t think so,” he says. “Love can be exploited, I guess, used to manipulate. It’s leverage. But I would never call loving someone else a weakness. I think living without love at all, any kind of love, is weakness. And the worst kind of darkness.❞ -Victoria Aveyard, War Storm [Red Queen •
QOTD. How do you feel today?

➪ Book on my nightstand: I don't have a nightstand, but I'm going to take this question like "next reading" xd. I think my next reading will be Thornfruit, by Felicia Davin or The Well of Ascension, by Brandon Sanderson.
➪ last book I read: King's Cage, by Victoria Aveyard.
➪ An author I would like to meet: Rick Riordan, Tahereh Mafi or Rainbow Rowell.
➪ Most surprising book in my shelf: The 10th year collector's edition of The Name of the Wind. It's precious.
➪ How I organize my shelf: By the author and by the height.
➪ A book I should already reread: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, by Benjamin Alire Sáenz ♥ #bookgeek #coverlove #yalit #bookread #4 #book #bookreader #bookheart #bookpicture #bookalicious #vscobooks #bookfan #bookporn #bookaddict #bookish #bookworms #booklover #booknerd #bookphoto #vscocam #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookaholic #bookreading #bythebook #bookworm #bookphotography
When I was younger, reading books that had an LGBT lead was a gift. I could see myself, for once, even if it was tangentially, in that these characters even existed. It was evidence that one day I could have as much of a fairytale romance as anyone else in the world. .
Real queer characters, with explicit in text evidence that they are queer gave me that. Not post-publication interviews saying “yes, he’s gay”, not subtle hints, not the smallest side character that could be ignored or forgotten instantly. Leads who were gay, bisexual, asexual, trans, lesbians. .
It needs work, yes. We need to have more bisexual characters who’s bisexuality isn’t erased when they get into a relationship. We need trans characters who aren’t killed off or bullied. We need nonbinary characters whose pronouns are respected. We need to fight the fetishisation of gay men in fandom culture. But it is such a big start that practically every YA book has SOMETHING for the community. .
We exist, we always have, and we deserve as much representation of all the non-LGBT people who have come and written before us. .
Happy pride ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Lockstep by Karl Schroeder ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is sort of hard to review because about halfway through it I noticed that I wasn't that smart for it 😅😅
The whole Lockstep/world building was hard to follow. This was just a hardcore Sci-fi!
Not saying that it was a bad book because it wasn't. I just couldn't grasp the information right away, I had to reread some parts so i can understand how Lockstep worked.
Exp: X worlds time stopped for 3 months(sleep mode) and Y world didn't, it kept on going. X world woke up and only 1 day past but Y world 20 years past. I hope I explained it as easily as possible for you guys 😅
It was a very interesting read. Where humans had expanded throughout space, building different civilizations in different worlds, and have different time face, religion, culture etc.
Love that money didn't run the economic systems, the resources did, that's why Lockstep was invented. To have enough resources for all the people in the planet.
The main character Toby I very much liked. Woke up 14 thousand years into the future (even though he was asleep for 30 years) and the different worlds portrayed him as Jesus.
Anyways, really liked it, it was a different kind of sci-fi read for me. ▪️▪️▪️
When seventeen-year-old Toby McGonigal finds himself lost in space, separated from his family, he expects his next drift into cold sleep to be his last. After all, the planet he’s orbiting is frozen and sunless, and the cities are dead. But when Toby wakes again, he’s surprised to discover a thriving planet, a strange and prosperous galaxy, and something stranger still—that he’s been asleep for 14,000 years.
Welcome to the Lockstep Empire, where civilization is kept alive by careful hibernation. Here cold sleeps can last decades and waking moments mere weeks. Its citizens survive for millennia, traveling asleep on long voyages between worlds. Not only is Lockstep the new center of the galaxy, but Toby is shocked to learn that the Empire is still ruled by its founding family: his own.

Book: Author: Former Chair of the DNC
America gets a little shady in the tell-all book by Donna Brazile about the summer of the Rise of DJ Trump, the unfortunate 45th president of the United States of America.
Donna Brazile is United States political strategist and analyst, who served as the Interim Chairperson of the Democratic National Convention. She took over the position after the disaster that was Debbie Wasserman Schultz abdicated. This was the time period in which the DNC had just been victim to cyber attacks.
This recounting of those fateful months leading up to the the 2016 election are a tough read. Donna has a true story-tellers heart and relates the information with all the raw emotion that she had experienced, as well as gracefully detailing the events as they unfolded as accurately as she felt possible.
This book has an inflammatory edge, as a lot of what she says could be taken as accusations and finger-pointing. However, I didn't take it as such. And policy-wonk will know that every story has eighteen truths, and one actuality. Politics are a every moving machine and have so many moving parts that no one person can every really be to blame - and yes I will defend my statement in regards to DJT as well.
This book serves another purpose as well. A deep look at the way a political party, the politics within the party, and how politics has shifted over the generations. If you are interested in politics this is for you.
Favorite Quote: “I had promised Bernie when I took the position of interim chair of the DNC that I would get to the bottom of whether or not Hillary’s team had rigged the party process in her favor so that only she would win the nomination.” *

My reading list seems to get longer by the day. Someone I trust recommends a title and on it goes - either into the notes on my phone or a virtual list in my head. Some people feel anxious at the thought of all the films or TV shows they’ve yet to see but for me, it’ll always be books. With new must-read books being churned out constantly, how will I ever get round to reading all the classics? I know this is a completely legitimate and not at ALL over-dramatic concern as my best friend has said the same. Kind of a bookworm’s version of FOMO. Though I guess that’s why she’s my best friend✌🏻
I was in Waterstones last week choosing a father’s day present and this was sitting by the till point. I had recently heard it mentioned on Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes’ podcast, The High Low. It’s worth noting, I trust these women with most things - they could probably recommend tin foil flip-flops and I’d need little convincing. I picked the book up and the sales assistant said she’d just finished reading it herself and it was brilliant, so that was all the persuasion I needed (especially when the cover looks as beautiful as this)
▪️An ACTUAL book is a bit of a novelty, too. Despite being a grade A bookworm and loving nothing more than a browse in a proper bookshop, I own a Kindle. Sacrilege, I know. But it was a gift and I have to say I love it. There is, however, something so satisfying about a proper book in your hands
▪️I’d heard of Nora Ephron, writer of ‘When Harry Met Sally’, before but never this particular one. By all accounts, it’s a great read and very funny. I love the line used to describe her husband’s mistress, (she had) ‘a neck as long as an arm and a nose as long as a thumb’ 👌🏻 💥 #noraephron #bookish #mumblog #pandorasykes #bookshelf #bookstagram #mumlife #dollyalderton #thehighlow #mumblogger
Ölümle her an burun burunalar.
Son kitapta bizi neler bekliyor merak etmiyor değilim.
Gelsin 3. kitap!
